Back when........

Writers in Coventry didnt have legal spots like the blue boards in Earlsdon. ASP, JECT, MARSA, TEK, CEPT, KRUGA, XORB, REL, ALERT, to name a few that have left there mark. Growing up in Coventry, seeing the remains of these and all of the other writers had such an influence on the whole Bring Colour camp.

The picture above is of a painting by ASP 178, a writer who clearly did his fair share and was king'in Coventry in the late 80's and is still up a fair bit now.
It seems that the younger generations of writers dont know, dont care or have been missinformed about the history of the Coventry graffiti art scene.

Knowing your History is important for numerous reasons.

  • We learn from our mistakes.
  • We share a common experience that binds the scene together.
  • We learn where the scene has come from.
  • The graffiti scene can build upon past accomplishments, and it also helps us to speculate the future.

Our passion for Graffiti/Street Art and inparticular Covenrty graffiti/street art has lead us to start to produce Blitz Coventry. Blitz is documenting the past and present bombing (graffiti writing) of Coventry. If you have any images that you would like to be included, send them to: blitz@bringcolour.com

"Know your history!!!"

Got Involved.

After designing the flyer for Get Involved, we were asked to decorate the venue. We decided to build a cardboard box divide with a Christmas vibe. 110 boxes were ordered, made up, numbered and decorated. The divide split the venue into room like areas and each area had a different painting, living room, dining room, bar, and a festive Merry Christmas!

There were some doubts cast weather or not the wall would withstand whatever antics the Christmas ravers would throw at it, and it did! all night! People even leaned against it!

Bud time again!

The Top Bud camp approached us a while back to bash them up a logo. We didn't have much time to tweak it but they were happy with the result. For 2010 they wanted a face lift, a bling bling Top Bud, so we went to the jewelers and iced out there logo. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Top Bud nights, radio and more, comming in 2010.

Hillfields!

A few pic's of Hillfields YPC. We went down and with the group painted 20 boards with individual letters spelling out "COME IN AND GET INVOLVED". The boards are to be mounted on to the red window panels in the bottom picture.

Website Hell!

Websites! The bane of our lives here at Bring Colour for over a year now. Having bought www.bringcolour.co.uk & www.bringcolour.com over 2 years ago we have now got a site up and running.

It has been nightmare after nightmare with the website, firstly, after purchasing the domain names we designed our website (bottom picture) and gave it to the boffs @ Connoserv Media to write the code. The website was up but quickly grew outdated, so we went back to the drawing board.

Our second attempt at our website was going well, not only did we design the site but we wrote the coding for it too, the site was complete, saved, needed a little more tweaking but was ready to go live, and then......Mac Death! We retrieved the web files off the hdd but it was no good, they were corrupt (middle picture). We hung on to the hope that the wizards at Connoserv Media could work there magic, but no! Back to the drawing board we went.

Third time lucky! We did it all again from scratch, learnt some more coding, made version 3 a little better again (top picture). We decided that we wanted complete charge of the site so with a little help from Jason Law, we launched www.bringcolour.co.uk

In the midst of all of this website hell, due to bad communication www.bringcolour.com slipt through our fingers, Gutted!

Yesterday we purchased it back!!!!

No more hold ups! Please. x
